ACL Software

I would like to share something about my audit software here named as ACL. Audit Command Language (ACL) is a software that allowed users read and analyzes data.   ACL as well can help users access the data, as intelligent questions and then distill the information needed to answer those questions.  Basically, ACL provides the means to organize and analyze the data through:

1.    Multilevel organization within a project.

2.    Easy creation and manipulation of project elements

3.    Analytical tools such as functions, commands and scripts.

National Audit Department (my organization) is using this software as one of our tool in our auditing.  Auditing can be defined as an examination, analysis and evaluation of a continuing and systematic on the financial statements, records, operations and administration of an organization to determine the general principles of accounting, management policies, regulations and procedures.

Who is ACL user?

Auditors, accountants, and other business professionals need timely access to data and to analyze it efficiently and effectively.  ACL is used by data analysts that the information ACL provides allows confident management planning and decision making.   During auditing, there are several sampling that must be chosen for observation, evaluation and analyze. 

What can Auditor do with ACL?

  

Gather Essential Information For Decision Making

ACL offers a full range of analytical tools, including functions, Commands and scripts.  These tools let auditors find the answer to quiry or questions quickly and easily.

Retain The Integrity Of Data

ACL is a read-only application and it can’t alter source data.  This means that auditors/user can access production data directly and safely without changing and the data was reliable at any circumstances.

Proses Different Data Types Of Different System

ACL can combine data from modern database, legacy systems, and report files into a seamless whole.  These mean that auditors can analyze the data as if it was all from the same source.

Process File Of Any Size Rapidly

Unlimited file-size capability and high-speed processing make it possible to analyze millions of records in seconds with ACL.  Selecting the sample will be more easy and faster.

Analyze Large Data Set In Their Entirety

Because of the large capacity and high sped of ACL allow users/auditors to work with files in their entirety instead of through samples.  Knowing that auditors have examined an entire file gives auditors greater confidence that the results are complete and correct. 

Automate Analytical Procedures

Automating users’ analysis can save time and effort.  ACL, scripts can be programmed to be interactive or to run as continuous monitoring applications.

Maintain A Record

When use ACL, every step it take is recorded in the log.   This log or audit trail lets us review document and repeat the steps of users/auditors analysis.

In order to implementing the ACL to the higher or optimum usage, Auditors must familiar and expert in IS and updated the knowledge in MIS.  More training and awareness in IT control should be applied in the field work for auditors.

IT Audit Course by National Audit Department

The first IT Audit Course under the MTCP (Malaysian Technical Cooperation Programme) was held at the National Audit Academy from 19 to 30 November 2007 is proving that National Audit Department committed in IT Auditing. In this first IT Audit Course  26 participants from Bahamas, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, China, Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Lao PDR, Maldives, Nepal, Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia were represent by Auditor from National Audit Department itself.

The goal of this course was mainly on discussion and knowledge sharing about the fundamental principles, concepts and methodsof reviewing IT Controls/ IT Auditing. Besides attending lectures, all participants in group discussions doing specific case studies with IT related issues as well as exposed to a software ACL - Audit Command Language through a hands-on session.

Three guest speakers were invited to share their experiences in IT Auditing . They were as follows:

1) Mr John Thurley -
 IT Consultant for the International Technical Co-operation Team, UK National Audit Office

2) Mr Ranjit Singh -
Managing Director  and Advisor  at Columbus Circle

3) Ms Gayah Gulam Haidar
Senior Manager at Multimedia Development Corporation (MDec)

After successfully organize that IT Audit Course and shown a good commitment in IT Audit in National Audit Department itself, this National Audit Department has given opportunity and sponsored by MTCP to organize the same IT Audit Course for every year until now there are five IT Audit course held every year. Latest IT Audit host by National Audit Department on 14 to 25 November 2011.

iPhone 5

I was started used iPhone in 2009, until now i still use that iPhone 3GS. When iPhone 4 released i found that nothing really bombastic from iPhone 4 as compared to iPhone 3GS. Hence i decided to wait for iPhone 5 with more amazing features.

New iPhone 5 rumors spill in daily and it seems there are new rumors about features and spec, launch date, designs, images and carriers every hour. Apple community enjoys speculating on what upcoming Apple's gadgets will be like. However, so far Apple has not said anything to directly confirm the new iPhone 5 but some are saying the technology giant has hinted at the upcoming 6th generation handset during their iOS 6 release date announcament. In my opinion, the late Steve Job did brainstorm his idea about the future of Apple's product before he died. Hence, Apple will continue with a lot and more amazing gadgets...

There is one day somewhere in last week i was thinking to buy iPhone 5 immediately if the phone is exactly the same as the concept shown in this video!!

evoMouse

I'm tempted to share something that i accidently read and watched at the youtube video. It is evoMouse!! By using evoMouse we can just use our own finger to perform such as common mouse operations as there will no more pushing around a physical mouse...First time i read the broucher i was thinking of how this evoMouse can function?... in my opinion it is one of the amazing innovation in IT technology and good evolution for computer mouse.

This evoMouse created by one of the company headquaters in Seoul, Korea features a multi-task functionality including scrolling, rotating, zooming, forwarding and back. In my opinion i found that the idea of eveMouse is easy and convenient as well it is allows natural movements and does not require pushing or moving around any physical object.

Beside the most interesting idea is something that never come cross to my mind is evoMouse may help reduce repetitive stress injuries like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

Microsoft and Bill Gates

When i read this book i would like to share something here all about Bill Gates and his brilliant idea. The well known Bill Gates or his full name , William Henry Gates  was born in 1955 in Seattle in Washington. He is the founder of the most popular company Microsoft. Those who are in the computing technology world would recognize how much facilitate Bill Gates did about the operation of the operating systems with Microsoft. There are various versions had launched from year to year.

Microsoft released several operating systems such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 the Millennium edition, Windows XP which become the most successfully operating systems in the world. After that Bill Gates bring out his idea with Windows Vista and recently successfully launched Windows 7. Nowadays Windows 7 happen to being the most beautiful operating systems that is ever formed with various completing features to reach at its own standard. Up to 2011, Bill Gates has gain a profit approximately 59 billion dollars.

Microsoft Corporation was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen is one of the largest and most influential companies in the personal computer industry. In addition to developing Windows such a brilliant idea from Bill Gates, Microsoft has a strong presence in almost every area of computer software, starting from programming tools to end-user applications. 

Presently as remain to be an expertise in computing technology Microsoft has set company vision  as says "In 5-10 years, how will people get things done at work, at home and on the go?". Hence the idea bring out this concept video to glimpse of the Microsoft's future in information technology productivity... This video shown how future technology will ultimately help people make better life while getting things done anywhere, everywhere and at anytime.

Kids and Technologies

When i see my kids with all types technology gadgets i always thinking am i putting my kids in danger? Nowadays kids are growing up with a highly sophisticated media, computer and technology gadgets. Is it right if i say the screens are stealing childhood?

My kids are playing games on galaxy tabs at 1 and half years ages, watching LCD tv at age of 3 months and playing with iPhone at 6 months age.....

When i realized what happen to my kids i remember of what Larry Rosen, professor of psychology at California State University as well author of Understanding Our Obsession with Technology and Overcoming its Hold on Us, says "It is no longer OK to start talking to your kids about technology when they are in their teens. You have to start talking to them about it as soon as you hand them your iPhone or let them watch television or Skype with grandma".

 Professor Larry Rosen as well suggests a ratio of screen time to other activities of 1:5 for very young children, 1:1 for pre-teens and 5:1 for teenagers. Parents should also have weekly talks with their children from the start or looking for signs of obsession and addiction to technology gadgets.

 Nowadays technology has been absorbed so comprehensively, media convergence means that everything from war and peace, television movies, video, computer games as well as internet all these are with potentially different effects on a child's brain... this is something that realy give me big challenge to educated my kids now and forever in future.... I am also worries about my kids loss of time spent thinking creatively and imaginatively because a lots of time there has to be visual stimulus...

 As i take a look around, at home, in cars, at shopping centres and even in restaurants there are always a chances to find young children engrossed not in the world around them, but in their new digital reality!! This is something same goes to my kids.....

Online Shopping!!

Shopping is one of my hobby since i found this activity can ease my tense as well become my therapy... Nowadays with a lot of technologies facility...i found that i no need to spend time, money as well as my energy just for parking, having meals at shopping complex, walking and spending whole day at shopping mall just for one handbag and a pair shoe!! All i need just one laptop or tablet or just even only iphone and of course money :) to do ONLINE SHOPPING....

My first time experience with online shopping was in 2007 with eBay.com. I was bought handbag and i found that online shopping was really fantastic and tempted myself... i just can get my desire handbag within a few second and received the item only after two days.... Online shopping can really save a few of my cost especially my travelling cost due to i am staying in Ipoh, Perak, my travelling cost would be high to go shopping to Mid Valley, One Utama or KLCC which are all located in Kuala Lumpur.... Yes, i can say online shopping is convenience....

However, i my opinion shopping online need a few precaution condition for our own safety for instant in term of the guarantee for product quality, not been cheated by seller, getting back our money if the item damage....  Hence, before we choose the web or blogspot we have to identify that web is not scam ... That is why i more prefer do online shopping at facebook and blogspot not web. This is because from facebook we can see their history selling transaction with their customer... In fact we can contact among their customer via facebook for verification...

Other than convenience i found online shopping as well might provide lower price for instant ..branded handbag from US ... Perhaps online business is reducing some of seller's overhead cost such as shop rental, utilities and staff cost...Seller can just selling their item from their home! Beside i also can do price comparison via online shopping....

Now it has been almost 5 years i involve with online shopping :) but there are only some item i prefer go for online shopping  for instant handbag (as i am handbag lover), apparel, kids stuff, accessories and textile. However, I was thinking there are still an item not suitable for online shopping such as gold.    Here i would like to share some of my favorite blog and web for online shopping other than facebook.

Online shopping is enjoyable....

My first time....

Today is my first day creating my own blog :o  its make me realize that my knowledge in IT technologies is very little at my age of 32 years old... so far i always search other people blog for online shopping only!! owhh so sad ..never think of creating my own blog. Today is my lucky day in my EMBA 11 class for subject MIS 750 i have an opprtunity to have my own time creating blog.. thanks to all my dearest frens as well as Dr Norzaidi for coaching and teaching me...... waiting to post my next entry about online shopping.....

Biodata

My name is Nor Adilah bt Abdul Ghani. I was born on 5^th August 1980 at General Hospital Kota Bharu Kelantan. At my age of 32 this year I am bless with one charming son, Amsyar Danish and one lovely daughter, Aisyah Amani. We are live happily now at Seri Bougainvillea, Bandar Seri Botani , Ipoh Perak.

I was married with one charming guy who is just one year older than me on 24 August 2007 name Mohamad Asyraf bin Borhan . Currently he works as an Executive Officer at Inland Revenue Board in Ipon, Perak.

Education Background

My secondary school was full with sweet memories as I enter MRSM PDRM Kulim, Kedah in 1996 for form 4 after pass PMR with excellent and flying colours. Before that I was studied for form 1 till form 3 in Sekolah Menengah Tunku Sofiah, Alor Star, Kedah. In both secondary schools I was an active student especially in MRSM PDRM I was one of EXCO in Badan Wakil Pelajar. There were a lot of enjoyable moments in my boarding school time.

After  SPM, i was enrol my further study at degree level in Universiti Utara Malaysia. My enrolment started with one year matriculation at Kolej MARA Kuala Nerang in 1998 till 1999 before proceed with 3 years study in Bachelor Degree in Accounting  for 1999  untill 2001. Before my convocation date on 14 September 2002, i already obtain job as Audit Assistant at one of Audit Firm (Nooriah Hamid & Co) located in Alor Star, Kedah.

Currently i enrol my further study in Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA)  in Universiti Teknologi MARA in part 3. As a mother for two kids, a wife, a boss in my organization an now become a part time master student,  it is really a challenging time for me to handle everything in one time J.....However life must goes on and i found that i have to enjoy every moment that given to me in my life.....

My Career

After one year gaining valuable experience in auditing field i decided to move to something new as well my preferred interest in accounting field rather than auditing field. In 2003 i got offer   from one of subsidiaries UEM Group (under Khazanah Nasional Berhad) called Pharmaniaga Manufacturing Berhad as Accounts Executive. As Accounts Executive i was responsible to prepare full set of manufacturing account and costing for pharmaceutical products since Pharmaniaga Manufacturing Berhad is manufacturing pharmaceutical products. 

After 2 years working in manufacturing and costing accounting again i was decided to discover new field in accounting field. This is because one of my dreams is to become someone in top level management.  I was lucky enough in 2005 when i was offered to be a group accountant in Guthrie Group Berhad. In Guthrie Group my major role is to prepare Guthrie Group Consolidated Accounts. Preparing consolidated accounts and work at one of Conglomerate Company is one of my dreams since it is exposed myself to corporate experiences. However after 2 years priceless experience in Guthrie Berhad i found i need to spend some time for myself. Hence i decided of getting married and change my career from Accountant to become as an Auditor in National Audit Department. Currently i happy with my present career since i have much more time to pamper myself. In National Audit Department i am doing financial auditing as well as performance auditing. Doing performance audit is award myself with new precious experience for my career enhancement in future.

Hobbies:

My main hobby is shopping J i love shopping so much. If the money not allow me to shopping, window shopping is enough for me to ease my tense!!  Currently since become a postgraduate student i really really have limited time for shopping. Hence i found the alternative online shopping for my stress therapy !!! Window online shopping as well make me happy enough J In order words i can say i am a shopaholic ......
